I want to thank you for your great website and all of the information you provide therein that is unattainable from the liberal mainstream media.
I am 14 years old and was given in school a persuasive essay assignment to write. Thanks in large part to your indepth coverage of non-PC issues and your dedication to the truth I was able to put together this essay that had my classmates heads swimming. Although my teacher did not agree with my views, to his credit I received an A.
Sincerely,
Summer-Lowry Cowan

In 1991 Bonnie Elmasri, feeling vulnerable, went to purchase a handgun to protect herself and her two sons; she was told she had to wait 48 hours to take her gun home. Tragically she was never able to pick up her gun. She and her two sons were brutally murdered the next day.(Congressional Record) In a near-by state not requiring a waiting period, Rayna Ross bought a gun for self-protection. Two days later she was attacked by a husky male assailant who found himself looking down the barrel of a gun. She lived to tell her story. These incidents and many others reiterate the fact that guns do save lives.(Ross)GUN CONTROL KILLS
It is a common misconception that gun control is an effective way to reduce crime. This is a false premise. Gun control lobbyists want you to believe that laws restricting and eliminating the use of firearms ensure safety for the citizenry and the children but this is just not true. The populace is spoon-fed skewed and inflated statistics by the liberal and biased media causing them to believe that gun control is the obvious and compassionate panacea. In truth, gun control laws only limit the law-abiding citizens ability to protect themselves from being a victim.
There is no way to refute accurate statistics and, therefore, no way to refute the fact that the 20,000 gun control laws on the books have a positive effect on crime rates, that is if you are the criminal. In the areas of the U.S.A where gun control laws are the most stringent crime is as abundant as the cartridge supply of the military. Washington D.C., Baltimore and New York City have some of the strictest laws on the books requiring licensing and registration along with a permit to purchase and numerous other limitations on the citizen’s second amendment right to defend themselves, however per 100,000 people anually 49.7 are murdered in D.C. and in Baltimore 47.1. The six U.S. cities with the highest murder rates have the strictest gun laws but only claim 5.6% of the total U.S. population and an alarming 14.2% of annual U.S. murders.(FBI) Here it is demonstrated that the no gun philosophy is surrealistic because criminals will get the guns anyway. They don’t obey laws so why do people believe they will obey gun laws? Of the guns currently used to commit crimes 89% of them are illegally acquired. (Sessions)
“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
-Thomas Jefferson-
Just this last year a terribly heart wrenching incident occurred in Littleton, CO. Many innocent children were killed in the city’s local high school, Columbine, during a school shooting. Even before the shooting occurred many laws regarding guns had already been broken by the assailants including: possession of a firearm by felons (One of the felons was convicted of armed robbery and the other of car theft.), possession of a firearm on school grounds, providing firearms to minors, providing handguns to minors, possession of firearms by minors, possession of handguns by minors and possession of firearms by minors without a federally required permission slip from a parent or guardian. Prior to the execution of this crime both of the criminals had already proven themselves felons.(Dougherty) On February 29, 2000, a similar instance occurred involving a six-year-old who shot and killed one of his schoolmates in which even more laws were broken during and before the murder. If these laws did not detour the criminals, what laws will? Ironically these school shootings and many others have taken place after a law was passed making it illegal to possess a gun within 100 yards of a school.
We need to crack down on criminals rather than guns. The Columbine incident would not have even occurred had the two criminals been placed in the slammer in the first place. In schools where shootings were attempted and the staff had access to guns, such as in Pearl, Miss. and Edinboro, Penn., the shootings were put to a standstill and further murders prevented. In Edinboro, a staff member who was carrying a gun heard some commotion and responded, intercepting the assailant before police arrived twelve minutes later.(Dougherty) Think how many lives were saved by the use of a gun in this instance.
In areas where guns are more easily accessed the murder rates and other violent crime rates are much lower. Take the 31 states that now allow concealed weapons; after the laws were enacted murders decreased by 7.7%, rapes 5%, robbery by 3% and aggravated assaults by 7%.(FBI) James Wright, a staunch gun control advocate received a grant form the Carter Justice Administration to study the effectiveness of gun control. To his astonishment, he discovered that all the background checks, waiting periods and other gun control laws were not effective in reducing crime.(Wright)
Most of the ploys you hear are about the negative aspect of guns, they can be deadly, but one never hears of the many lives guns save. Surveys have indicated that there are over 2 million uses of firearms to prevent crime annually in the U.S.A. but an intensely scientific study by Lott and Mustard covering the time span from 1977-1992 has indicated it to be 2.5 million lives saved.(Lott) A 1995 study by Gary Kleck and Marc Gertz showed that just brandishing a firearm was often enough to deter the criminal.(Kleck and Gertz) In a study executed by the Justice Department three fifths of criminals polled agreed that, “a criminal is not going to mess around with a victim he knows is armed with a gun.” In all actuality guns save more lives than they take. Firearms are used to protect lives over 60 times more often than they are used to end lives.(Justice Department) In 1982 Kennesaw, GA. passed a law that required all heads of the household to have a minimum of one gun in the house to protect themselves. The burglary rate in this town dropped by an amazing 89%. In Orlando, FL between 1966 and 1967,where the rape rate was higher than any other US city, the females were offered an intensive course in gun safety and usage along with the opportunity to purchase a firearm inexpensively. Nearly over night there was an 80% reduction in the rape rate.(Kleck and Gertz)
If the whole world had laws or practices similar to those in Kennesaw,
GA and Orlando, FL think how many valuable lives would be saved from
genocides and homicides.
During the end of the cold war a few CIA officers were meeting with
some KGB officers. The KGB officers were asked, “So Ivan, did you
guys actually have plans for invading CONUS (Continental United States)?”
The KGB officer was reported to have laughed and replied, “Hell no!” and
when asked why he retorted, “Your people have too many guns.”
Thus, peace through strength.
Gun control has been tried internationally as well. Here are a few of the results. In 1911 Turkey established gun control and 1.5 million Armenians were murdered because they were left defenseless and unable to resist oppression. In 1929 the Soviet Union followed suit and 20 million were put to death. In 1938, 1956, 1964 and 1970 13 million German residents, 1 million educated Cambodians, 100,000 Mayans and 300,000 Ugandan Christians were murdered respectively in mass genocides. That is over 64 million people who have died in genocides as unprotected victims disarmed by gun control, just in this last century. All of these crimes were preceded by gun control and confiscation such as the Nazi Act of October, 1938 which banned Jews from owning guns, clubs or knives. Gun control opens the door for criminals.
Currently Australia has outlawed guns. The law has been in effect only one year, yet homicides have risen 3.2%, assaults 8.6% and armed robberies 44% with firearm related homicides in the state of Victoria up an outrageous 3oo%.(Greenwood) In 1974, in Israel guns ended a chain of school murders carried out by students working for the PLO. The Israeli schoolteachers began to pack guns and the 15 and 16-year-old students were instructed in firearms safety. These students, along with teachers and parents, protected the children from further massacres.(JPFO and Doctor Schutter) The killings ended abruptly once a few failed and the PLO got word of the Israelis new self-defense practice, once again proving that guns impose fear in the enemy whoever he may be and deter him from committing crimes, for he becomes vulnerable rather than his victim.
All things considered, it is nearly impossible to comprehend how someone
could support gun control. Gun control laws are just steps on the
journey to the confiscation of arms. Confiscation of arms leads to
sky-high crime rates, the apex of which is genocide, because unscrupulous
people, criminals and tyrants alike, prey on the weak and defenseless,
just as crime skyrockets when there is a natural disaster or other widespread
catastrophe such as the Great Depression. Citizens and their arms
are what keep countries from becoming anarchies or tyrannically governed
states. Gun control truly does kill; it kills the innocent and defenseless
law abiding citizen because it prevents him from having the ability to
hold his own against well-armed unscrupulous culprits. All of the
statistics resulting from thorough studies demonstrate that areas with
gun control are feeding grounds for criminals while locales with armed
citizens produce famines for criminals, forcing them to evacuate to other
areas to seek out defenseless victims.
