Happiness vs. Freedom

Remind you of anyone:

The greater part of the population is not very intelligent, dreads responsibility, and desires nothing better than to be told what to do. Provided the rulers do not interfere with its material comforts and its cherished beliefs, it is perfectly happy to let itself be ruled.” Aldous Huxley

The author of the classic Brave New World had lots of interesting things to say about Life and other fun stuff. For instance, while there are those who are “perfectly happy to let [themselves] be ruled”, Huxley also said:

Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the overcompensations for misery. And, of course, stability isn't nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand.

Most people spend their time either avoiding anxiety or seeking pleasure. Personally, I find no pleasure in being ruled; in fact, it gives me anxiety. I think it effects most people the same way. This is why the government you don't see is usually the most effective; out of sight, out of mind and all that. Now, the government is all you see, and it's certainly not very effective at much of anything. Anything good, that is.

Considering the mental health of the nation, I'd say it's causing plenty of anxiety, especially among those who worship it the most. Look at the stats on the left's mental health; it's insane. (pun intended)

Part of what people wanted with Bidet [sick] was a return to normal. Part of the normal they wanted was a return to ignoring the government. Many of them hated the entire Trump show for the same reason; they just want to ignore politics like they used to and they blame him for not going away.

People don't mind being ruled; they do prefer not to notice. That's probably true regardless of their IQ. It's just that smart people tend to notice it more and are often the ones punished for noticing and pointing it out.

People don't want to see the Emperor naked, it ain't much fun
Brad Smith

OK – maybe not ‘happy’ to be ruled, but not unhappy enough to do something about it, right? Even considering the latest News about how we’ve been lied to, stolen from, treated to a double standard of Justice, there remains a substantial number of our neighbors who don’t know and, even if they do know, they don’t care about the depth of corruption our rulers have sunk at our expense. As rigged as polls are, along with heavy shade from the MSM, Brandon and the Ds retain the ‘Approval’ of an astounding number of voters, much to the chagrin and amazement of those of us who don’t.

Understanding this may bring satisfaction, but like freedom, happiness remains elusive.
